Why Fox Restaurant Concept's 'Flower Child' Is Redefining Fast Casual Healthy Eating
As a surveyor of everything healthy, I am stoked about Flower Child. This concept from Fox Restaurants is shaking up the fast casual space with food, as it should be. Move over Panera...this one's blooming.
Ok ok, so Flower Child isn't necessarily 'new', BUT I believe more and more restaurant groups are going to be moving towards (or investing in) similar concepts. WHY? Just ask the millennials. As the millennial generation grows quickly into the largest in the country, more and more of them are seeking out healthy options...bonus if it's fast and less pricey than their True Food Kitchen counterpart (which I'll be writing about soon because I have equally great things to say about them).
Historically, I could argue Panera held this title. But even though they have healthy 'options' just a quick peek at their pastry counter can argue otherwise, with cookies and bear claws bigger than my face.
Flower Child, voted one of Nation's Restaurant News' Top Hot Concepts of 2017, has grown to 7 locations since 2014 by "translating healthful fare into a counter-culture format". Everything they make is made from scratch. They source local ingredients, and have everything for everyone including vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, non-gmo, sugar free and dairy free, surprisingly for prices averaging $12-$15 per selection.
There's no doubt Sam Fox of Fox Concepts is looking to emphasize locally sourced and seasonal health fare, with many of his other restaurants following this theme. But I'm particularly impressed with Flower Child as it has a 'sit down' vibe with a quick counter service option for those of us who are on the go...or just running to a yoga class (not to mention each location has a designated yoga mat storing area).
If you're a healthy food lover, foodie in general, or maybe even in the culinary space looking for ideas, or potentially investment opportunities, this one is a must-go-to.
